[ 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 ]

This year was a real challenge due to the unsettled weather report. The forecast was for rain and lots of it. The morning registration was awesome and the rain held off and we had 166 registered riders. Although this was less than in the past, we were very happy.

The ride was really nice, at least until we reached the cemetery. We did get some sprinkles during Ronnie’s service, but not much. However, on the way to Scarborough Beach, it rained and rained and rained some more. We made it to Scarborough safely, stopped for some refreshments and headed to Cranston Country Club for dinner.

We had 12 motorcycle officers escorting us along with the Cranston Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police. They did an absolutely awesome job and went way out of their way to ensure the safety of each and every rider. At one point they shut down Route 95N to ensure that all of the bikes got across safely because of how much rain we were getting. We made it to the country club safely and without any incident. We had over 200 people attend the dinner and even though the bikers were soaked, they had a great time.

The day was good despite the less than average turnout and we raised more than $8,000.00 for Ronnie’s foundation. Ronnie’s foundation has now given out more than $100,000.00 in his name to students throughout Southeastern New England to assist them with the continuation of their education. I still find it hard to believe that we have been fortunate enough to have helped so many students in just 4 years!

I am sure that Ronnie is proud of the work being done by all members of his foundation, all of the people who participate in all of the events, all of the vendors who support us and especially the students receiving the scholarship assistance.

We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who was there on April 22, 2012 to make this day such a success. We could not have done it without you. Our deepest and most sincere gratitude to the RI State Police, Cranston PD, North Providence PD, Johnston PD, Warwick PD, Bristol PD, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Patriot Guard Riders, Warrior Brotherhood and everyone that helped us out. With every ounce of fiber, I thank you!

Ron
